The social and political structures depicted in fantasy fiction is often feudal or pseudo-feudal; accordingly, there are plenty of kings, lords, and thrones. Court fantasy, which can fit within high fantasy, historical fantasy, or comic fantasy, centers around the machinations of power and magic underlying the fantasy realm. This subgenre features strong elements of mystery and espionage, and also offers an opportunity to fuse mystery with fantasy. See also: High/Epic fantasy
